We have two rooms; one twin and one double. The twin beds can be turned into a double bed if necessary. Both rooms have independent key access – come and go as you please. They also each have a television with English terrestrial channels available and a DVD player with a range of films on hand.
Our home is on a beautiful plot of land of over one acre near to the village of Marminiac with stunning views. At an elevation of 300m there are open views to the north, looking out across the sweeping valleys with meadows and forests. To the south the land disappears into a large forest. If you are an early bird you can see the sunrise to the east as it comes up over the  hills of the Bouriane.

About Us

Derek is a retired police officer. Actually, he started out in the Merchant Navy and left when he reached the dizzy heights that the 'Bridge' offered as Second Mate Home Trade. He joined up in the Army and trained with the Royal Military Police where he enjoyed various expeditions and 'R&R' in exotic places!.

Then on to the British Transport Police, from where he retired in December 2004. At L’Arpent Vert Derek is the host, the party entertainer, the chief gardener…
Rachel is a teacher who taught in the Modern Foreign Languages Department of a comprehensive school until the leap across the Channel. She continues to teach in France, as well as offering translation services for private and business clients.

We have two children Samuel and Marie who love all that life has to offer here in the Lot. They never tire of the outings to the medieval castles, to the prehistoric caves or to the theme parks nearby. Equally, they look forward the summer with descents down the Dordogne and Lot rivers by canoe, carefree summer days swimming in the rivers, and more locally, the many cycle paths and walks in the local woods. And as for their taste in good food, they have adopted the French way whole-heartedly!

If you are driving then you need to look out for GOURDON to the north-east of us and CAHORS to the south-east. Our nearest market towns are CAZALS and SALVIAC, both character towns that are worth a visit on market days or just to walk around. The historic and picturesque towns of DOMME and SARLAT are about 30 and 40 minutes drive to the north. We are about a 30 minute drive from the A20 motorway, Junction 56. Click on our link to www.viamichelin.com to get a close up of the roads into Marminiac.
