The courses are designed to suit you.

In fact they will be tailored to your needs based on your requests, budget and expectations. This includes the type of language you learn, the speed at which you cover new material, the length of time spent in each session and even, where possible the number of people you study with. The methodology for teaching, although predominantly communicative in nature, will incorporate cultural elements which build on a broader understanding of the French language. An equally important element of language learning is grammar. This is taught in such a way at Hilltop that it is integrated into the communicative teaching, but is explicit enough to allow the learner very soon to begin to manipulate the language, armed at most with a dictionary.

Course Structure

As each course will be tailored individually, it would be impossible to describe an exact course structure. Some people might prefer to spend mornings in intensive classroom situations, followed by lunch and then cultural visits of interest in the afternoon. Others might want the morning lessons and follow these up with visits where they can practise the language acquired in the morning. Some might choose to spend all of their time fully immersed in the language with plenty of conversation whilst yet others might prefer a more literate approach, using French literature to prompt learning. Your Qualifications

You don't need any qualifications in order to attend a course at Hilltop. You may be a novice or you may already be proficient and looking to specialise or concentrate on a certain aspect of the language. All we ask for is your enthusiasm.
