OLIVEMEDE RESIDENTIAL HOME - ACTIVITIES

The Activity Co-ordinator and staff team are dedicated in providing an entertaining and stimulating environment that meets their changing needs. We seek views and suggestions and are continually tapping into other resources to provide this.

We actively encourage residents and their family or friends to join in the entertainment. Our entertainment plan is scheduled in advance, including Monthly music entertainment, coffee mornings, cream tea afternoons, bingo, religious services and individual visits from ministers. We organise day trips to shopping centres, local theatres, garden centres, pub lunches etc.

Fund raising events are held throughout the year, barbeques, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Christmas Fayres to help to raise money for the resident comfort funds, including raffles and tombolas which the service users particularly enjoy. The comfort funds provide birthday and Christmas presents for the service users and also existing entertainment, board games, craft supplies and bingo prizes.

Activities and events are advertised throughout the home. Residents and their families/friends are invited and encouraged to join in with events planned throughout the year, but their wishes are respected if they decline. We also have birthday parties for the residents throughout the year, Halloween and Christmas parties. We celebrate national events throughout the years i.e. red nose day, football finals etc.

Olivemede had a Daycare centre attached that is open Monday to Friday that residents are welcome to attend, and many do. The Daycentre has various one-to-one and group activities daily, including indoor bowls, name games to stimulate the mind, ludo, hoop-la and team quizzes. Some local residents have been able to socialise with members of the community who they knew prior to moving into Olivemede. This facility has enabled them to “catch up” on old times and reminisce.

We have visiting musicians, sing-alongs, art & craft days, pantomime performers, visits from children in the local schools and a multitude of similar activites.

“Newsletters and flyers keep the residents and visitors informed so they can be aware of any up and coming events and relevant information.
