HILLVIEW RESIDENTIAL HOME

The Activity Co-ordinator and staff team strive to meet all recreational needs that our residents have. We understand that they are individuals and that their needs are ever changing. We aim to provide both group and 1 to 1 activities. Views and suggestions are fully sought and listened to, this helps us to provide a service containing entertainment and activities that they will enjoy and benefit from. Activities and events are advertised throughout the home. Residents and their families/friends are invited and encouraged to join in with events planned throughout the year, but their wishes are respected if they decline.

Hill View has a very high attendance rate from both residents and their friends/families for its events, with positive comments regarding how much they enjoy the activities and events. We have visiting musicians, sing-alongs, art & craft days, bingo and a multitude of similar activites.

We organise fund raising events, barbeques, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Christmas Fayres to help to raise money for the resident comfort funds, which include raffles and tombolas which the service users particularly enjoy. The comfort funds provide birthday and Christmas presents for the service users and also existing entertainment, board games, craft supplies and bingo prizes.

We celebrate national events throughout the years i.e. red nose day, football finals etc. In the summer we hold BBQ's and cream tea afternoons, which are specifically for the residents and their relatives. And we also have birthday parties for the residents throughout the year, Halloween and Christmas parties.

The residents are encouraged to continue to be involved in the Sawtry community and receive invitations to attend the "Sawtry Feast" which is held in June and local infant school plays. All saints church in Sawtry invite the residents 3 monthly to their cream tea service, transport for this event is arranged.

Hill View receives visits from both the Methodist Church and also from the Baptist Church. If other ministers are requested then we will endeavour to arrange these. In October 2007 the local vicar decided to make his visits to Hill View monthly instead of fortnightly. This was due to the interest in church service's being very low at Hill View. In May 2008 the vicar and Hill View were very pleased to see that the interest in church service's once again was high and now Hill View recieves fortnightly visits.

A library service comes to Hill View fortnightly to provide service users with books of interest. This can include audio books for those with a visual impairment.

Hill View has implemented a monthly “newsletter” for the residents and visitors so they can be aware of any up and coming events and relevant information.
